MORE Meta Subscriptions | Reddit x Shopify | Lululemon Ends Chip Wilson Battle

Rundown

Chris and Colin cover Meta's expanding subscription-based revenue push, a bullish comparison of Reddit and Shopify stock under founder-led leadership, and Lululemon's settlement ending Chip Wilson's public campaign against the company. Guest Nate Rosen joins (with connection trouble) fresh off a CPG founder meetup in Austin, and the show also hits sponsor segments on attribution (Northbeam) and UGC tooling (Incense), plus reactions to Webflow's messy layoffs and hopes for OpenAI's ad platform.

Meta's new consumer subscription tiers are a quick-cash band-aid that doesn't solve the platform's real need to innovate on ads.

I just think this is a band-aid. But it's I mean, they have to do something to recoup the investment that was the failed metaverse. And I think this is their answer to that.

Cross-platform attribution is broken because every ad platform claims credit for the same conversion, and purchase-based data reconciliation is the fix.

Every platform takes credit. Every dashboard tells a different story. Meta says this, row, Tik Tok says that conversion is mine... North Beam fixes this, okay, with their own proprietary data... rebuilding the customer journey from real orders, real clicks, real verified ad views.

Wall Street is underpricing Shopify (and Reddit) relative to their actual performance under founder-led leadership.

I totally agree with his point that the street is is not um accurately adequately pricing in and seeing what is going on with Shopify.

Efficiency metrics have reversed course industry-wide: ROAS has plateaued while CAC has climbed back to prior-year highs, an unwelcome trend.

ROAZ has plateaued CAC is skyrocketing erasing previous efficiency. This is one day clicks only acrruel. Um not what you want to see.

Chip Wilson's public disparagement of Lululemon was a material reputational threat to the company, not just personal venting.

So, I mean, these remarks aren't they're not just this guy being, you know, a jerk.

Webflow mishandled its layoffs by leaving employees locked out and uninformed before any official communication went out.

The way they handled it, it is is insane, they say. One employee tagged the CEO on LinkedIn three hours ago. I'm locked out of my Web Flow laptop since 7 a.m. this morning. Rumor has it we've been laid off.
