Live selling on platforms like TikTok and Instagram converts well for middle-to-bottom funnel shoppers who already know the brand, but is not an effective top-of-funnel acquisition tactic.

It's great for middle and bottom of funnel... I don't think it's a great top of funnel strategy.

Attaching a brand to a live cultural moment like the World Cup through a prediction-style promo is a compelling word-of-mouth tactic even for brands that can't afford official sponsorship.

I find this to be an incredibly compelling angle for associating oneself, doing something unique-ish... attaching your brand to said outcome... I find that like compelling for word-of-mouth.

  5. 2026-07-08 Finance & Exits

Strong unit economics let a small, capital-efficient brand be selective about funding, favoring private funds over venture capital.

I don't want to deal with venture capitalists... I want to go to literally private funds... every dollar that we spend kind of goes so much farther because we're such a small team.

A competitor's strong, distinctive branding on a new retail launch is a net positive because it builds category-wide credibility that makes similar brands more lovable.

I want this to become a thing that people are used to and love cuz then it just makes my thing more lovable, too.
